Artist presentation

In connection with the exhibition BLINK | Trond Mohn Art Collection, we invite some of the artists to present their practice. In the exhibition, we only get to see one work by each artist and we are curious about the entire practice That is why we invite you to artist presentations where artists can show several works and put their work in the exhibition in a context.

This Thursday we have invited Dickon Drury (b. 1986). Drury works with paintings and in the exhibition we show the work Red Table With Maquettes from 2018.

The painting shows a crowded workplace with a number of references to other artists' works. In general, Drury often paints crowded interiors or rooms with many objects. As TANK magazine writes in the introduction to an interview with the artist:

"Dickon Drury’s paintings feel like they’re about to burst their banks. The lurid colours and diagonal lines of each work strain against the edges of the frame, and Drury paints pieces of furniture covered entirely by objects. His surrealism is comical and thoughtful: the artist sets up a dialogue within his body of work as wine glasses, houseplants, musical instruments, candles and goldfish reappear across several paintings."
